A friend of mine asked how to deal with stress while in the middle of a crisis. This is what I wrote.
Managing your breathing. Deep slow and purposeful breathing helps. Inhale, imagining that you are inhaling blue balls of peacefulness. Focus on breathing deep to get as many in as possible. Exhale all the way out. You aren’t exhaling anything. Repeat. Just focus on the balls.
More oxygen helps you think more clearly, especially since during stress, you breathe less deeply and so your thinking is compromised.
When it all ends, sleep. Nothing resets perspective after stress like sleep.
